What Causes Diarrhea?
Diarrhea occurs when the colon does not absorb liquids from the foods and fluids you have ingested quickly enough, leaving a watery stool in the colon tract. Dehydration, loss of appetite, nausea, and stomach cramping are symptoms of diarrhea. The most common causes of diarrhea include:
- Viruses
- Eating foods that upset the digestive system
- Food allergies
- Lactose intolerance
- Diabetes
- Ingesting too much alcohol or coffee
